I got a message for you

You better come round sometime
You gotta make me happy
You gotta bring me sunshine ♥

A2 Textiles Coursework: Costume: Juliet

For my costume project, I looked at the character of Juliet,
from Shakespeare's iconic play: Romeo and Juliet
These photos are of the main piece of my dress: It's an idea taken from the quote of:
"Wilt thou be gone? it is not yet near day:
It was the nightingale, and not the lark..."
Looking at the use of the bird shape, and interlinking it with deeper images.
The bird itself is made up of fabric pieces cut into feather shapes, with a small amount of real feathers at the top of the wings.

On the chest of the bird is this take on symbol of cupid's arrow through a heart, however to have more of an impact I changed it to have a human heart with a dagger through it to reflect Juliet's actions at the end of the play, a symbol of death marked love.

A2 Textiles Coursework: Natural Forms: Hat

For part of my A2 textiles coursework I had to create a hat based around natural forms.
I decided to focus around the forms of fungi,
attached to the basic shape of an old fashioned bonnet.

Fungi: Molds, mildews, yeasts, mushrooms, and puffballs, a group of organisms lacking in chlorophyll (ie are not photosynthetic) and which are usually non-mobile, filamentous, and multicellular. Some grow in soil, others attach themselves to decaying trees and other plants whence they obtain nutrients.

A2 Art Coursework: Natural Form: Pods

These are photos of my A-level art pieces, both development and final pieces.
These pieces are focused around the idea of man interrupting with nature; the use of the bright, artificial colours on a curved pod shape reflects this.
