Tomorrow.
For my 21st, James & Louise got me a gift voucher to go and be pampered at Urban Chic in St.Martins Square, and I finally got round to booking it! So tomorrow, I am going for a pedicure and having minx nails on my hands. I'm so excited! My nails are the things that usually get wrecked, so it'll be nice to have them done well and done to last. Pamper session a go go!
Blists Hill: Printers
Blists Hill has its own on site printers business. So all the signs and bags and such are all printed on site using their victorian presses and ink blocks. Which for me just made it all the more amazing. Some beautiful fonts floating around as well.
Ironbridge Gorge: Blists Hill Victorian Town
I am shattered after an amazing day at Blists Hill Victorian Town, in Ironbridge Gorge, Telford. To be honest, I was already sold by the fact its a museum and I love museums. But this was even better, wandering in and out of shops, seeing the people dressed in Victorian clothing. Something that topped it off for me, was being able to exchange modern money into old money to spend around the shops. I thought this was a brilliant idea! It was fun working out all the different coins to get the price you needed, and it made you be careful about what you bought, due to wanting to use the old money, rather than using the modern day option. It was weird having a small silver coin symbolise a larger about of money. You kept thinking you didn't have much left, but than realised that a "six pence" was equal to £2.40 and "three pence" was £1.20! That amount in one coin was odd. And instead of using 'P's after money amounts they used 'D's.
This was the Chemist that the BBC used in their "Victorian Pharmacy" series. It smelt amazing in there, very glad dentistry has moved on since than, it looked painful.
I think the dressmakers was my favourite store, it should how smelt of fabric. And it was just so lovely, I could just imagine the ladies coming to buy a new hat, or get some ribbon. Looks at the new laces. We were talking about which of the stores we'd want to work in, this was definitely mine. Fits quite nicely I think, plus if this was Victorian times it would most likely be my job.
Amazing Fish in beer batter, and chips, cooked in dripping!
Amazing weaving techniques we got shown. Basically a simple way of weaving without a loom. Definitely going to try this out, will be very useful in my project I feel.
This is the actual "Ironbridge"of the gorge, down the road from the town. Its so beautiful to look at, and the surrounding houses and town was seriously like being on holiday.

London 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony.
Last night was the opening ceremony for London 2012. I'd been a bit nervous about this, Britain has the tendency for something to go wrong, or be a bit cheesy. But with Danny Boyle doing it, I had hope that it would be good. And last night, I sat completely in awe, it was just stunning and perfectly British in every sense. The opening scene of the British countryside was just so beautiful and peaceful to look at, exactly how the countryside is, but even when the scene changed to industrial Britain in still had a beauty in a more dramatic and dark sense.
I loved the fact the British humour and quirkiness came through, with the James Bond arrival of the Queen to Rowan Atkinson Chariots of Fire. It was all just so amazing, and I have a big admiration to the Queen for getting involved. So big up to the Queen!
An amazing collection of music as well played throughout, really makes you realise how much good music Britain has created, for me although I knew all the songs it hadn't fully clicked they were all British. Something else I didn't know was that a British guy invented the internet! Learnt something new every day and all that.
The touch of young people lighting the cauldron and to be fair the stunningly crafted cauldron itself was just such a good touch. It was simply a "just WOW" evening, felt extremely proud.
