"Your name still tangles around my rib-cage, my heart locked inside your chest. Some days I can feel my heart pulsing in my wrists, other days the beating belongs to you. I have so many things I want to tell you and with every hour passing, there are new things added to that list. How I changed the color of my hair, or how I got this new outfit I think you would like. How I discovered this new band and found this song that reminds me of you. Those moments make me cringe because when I open my mouth and the words on my tongue seep out, you aren’t there to take them and instead, they get pulled along with the air. I don’t miss you nearly as much as the things you took when you left—promises never kept, empty words and expectations, the ability to give all of my love away instead of letting it rot inside of me. You took away my smile, you took away my laugh. All I can do now is hope that one day I’ll get it all back."
