Knit & Stitch Show, NEC 2008

This is from last september, this was a brilliant day.
Travelling to Birmingham NEC, having an ace day with Holly, Claire and Martha.
Checking out the artists, and browsing the stalls for goodies.
Then dashing home, to get ready and go to a gig in town, good times! ♥

Most photos are blurreddd, but who cares!

Below is my favourite piece, that was by Ruth Bratt. This is what she said about it:
"The work, although initially evoking a visual taste sensation, vomits undersurrents of devious opulence and greed. The dichotomy of the materials poses interesting debate over value and longevity of the work. Whilst the process is important becoming concept in itself; meticulous attention to detail fuelled by the addictive nature of the beads, ensure both the maker and the viewer are lured into the lavishness of the piece.

Work conjures a sense of grandeur jarred with the visual reality of a slumping and oozing form. The encrustation is a beautiful disease, a gluttonous waste, and an uncomfortable reflection of human lust for the unnecessary.

Cute Turtle!

I also liked the below pieces by Emil Angus:
"My work draws inspiration from walks along the coast. I began my research by making a collection of objects and taking photographs from these sites. I am interested in recreating the textures from my photographs and the objects which I collected from the beach. I use stitch to create intricate and delicate manipulated fabrics which incorporate wire and fabric. I use free machine embroidery to create lots of depth, which embodies the feel of the aged coast. I have chosen colours whcih reflect the coast from my photographs. I am using free machine embroiday on dissolvable fabric along with crochet wire.

This was at the main entrance, it was all knitted,
and looked like a coral reef.
